Richard F. Medrano, 35, of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wed. (Aug. 8) at San Jose Catholic Church. Father Valentine Jankowski OFM,Conv. will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Tues (Aug. 7) at San Jose Catholic Church. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place.
Services are entrusted to West Funeral Home.
Richard Franco Medrano was born on May 14, 1977 to Rafael and Cesilia Franco Medrano in Carlsbad.
He was raised in Carlsbad, where he loved participating in the annual Soap Box Derby and was a drummer with the Cavemen Band.
Following his high school graduation Richard moved to Albuquerque and had worked as a bartender for Gardunos Restaurants for many years. He found a great deal of joy in playing and teasing with the children in his family.
He is survived by his parents of Carlsbad, son, Isaias Medrano and his mother Dawn Montoya both of Albuquerque; brothers: Mike and wife Monica Medrano of Los Lunas, NM and Arthur and wife Crystal Medrano of Allen, TX; nieces and nephews: Marisa and Alison of Allen, TX and Mia, Maribelle and Justin, all of Los Lunas.
